Hong Kong!

I was stoked to get to Hong Kong for a few reasons. One, out of mainland china, two meeting up with my friend Darcy and three it is Hong Kong!!

I decided to cancel my hostel and stay at the Temple in Hong Kong. On my way from the airport i missed my transfer to a different subway line. I can honestly say this was the first time i missed a stop or went the wrong direction so far on all the subways up to this point. They told me to transfer at the wrong station so it was not even my fault.

I was so excited to see the Hong Kong Temple. I found it very easily. I was surprised when they told me I had to do 2 sessions the next day to stay at the temple. I wanted and had planned on only one. quite the standoff. They were strict so I agreed.

Bam!

Darcy and I met up at the temple and we decided to go get some dinner. We walked to the subway close by and saw they have the church on the subway area map, cool!

We ate dinner at this Chicago style grill. It was legit American food! We loved it. It felt like I was on a date in America again. Kind of cool. The food was delicious and we had a great conversation.

My lodging in the church building across from the temple was so cheap. $6 I think. I shared with two other young guys. Neither could speak English.

I had an amazing session at the temple. The Hong Kong temple is one of my favorites now. I learned the Hong Kong Temple is the temple for more than half the world's population. Wow. being there I got a sense for how important it was because there were people there from China, Thailand and even a woman from India. My sealing session was powerful. Had a huge impression and witnessed a woman being sealed to her deceased husband. There daughter was then sealed to them! Neat experience for me.

I got to talk to a lot of the missionaries too which I love. They told me all about teaching the people and the underground missionary work in mainland China. They were all jealous I had come from the mainland China.

After my TWO sessions, I was off to meet Darcy and get some lodging and tour the city.

Getting lodging proved so difficult. My guesthouse room sucked bad and it took forever to check in. They didn't even have a reception desk. Darcy tagged along and I felt bad.

But then we were off. I was a little frustrated because a half day felt too short to see Hong Kong.

First thing we wanted to do was go to the peak in Hong Kong and see the amazing view of Victoria Harbor. It was real cloudy and drizzling. So we knew we would not be able to see much.

You take this tram and it's extremely steep!

This is the best view we got. Bummer. But it was kind of cool to be in the clouds. And this little view soon disappeared.

Back down in the city. The buildings are awesome!

This apple store is so cool.

Whoa! It goes up into heaven it looks like.

After the peak and walking around a bit we headed for the harbor to take a junk boat ride. We were excited to get on the water. Our boat was funny because it was us two and like 10 boat / staff workers. They were staring at us a lot lol. Darcy and I have awesome conversations and definitely have chemistry.

Darcy and I both love Hong Kong! We think it is so cool! She wants to come back and live here for a while. I'm cool with Utah haha!

Also at this point in the night Darcy started falling hard for the beard. Can you blame her? See below. I look gooooood!

After the boat ride we set out for a walk with no set plan...

At this point it started raining really really really hard. Wow it rained hard. I swear I have had about 2 clear days my whole trip.

Darcy and I headed to the Soho area and we found a huge singles scene area. We rode these escalators FOREVER it seemed uphill. When it started pouring we decided to go down. We shared her little umbrella and I honestly got drenched on my left side.

During this walk the idea of leaving tomorrow morning just killed me. First time I've felt that way on my trip. I asked Darcy what her plans were tomorrow and I decided right then and there I was going to change my flight to the next day. I did it on my phone in about 15 minutes. Way spontaneous! I cancelled my Singapore hostel for the next night and Darcy and I found a place to chill and hung out and planned out our day for tomorrow. She was excited I was staying an extra day.

After chilling I walked her to the bus stop and she said the family she was staying with was awesome and the area was incredible. I wanted to see it. She said it was a 45 minute bus ride and I'd have to come back. I went anyway. Wanted to escort her home I guess. It just kept raining and raining and raining.

After a long walk and running out of money I walked her home. Very nice area! Gold coast is the name. It continued to rain hard. After a long hug we said good night and I walked back to the bus station. It hit me pretty quick how dumb it was to come clear out here. Since the ATM gave me big bills I have no small bills for the bus. I had no idea how i was going to get home... I stopped the first taxi and made him a cheap offer, luckily he took it! He dropped me off right at my intersection. I was so grateful because the downpour got so intense right after I got in his taxi! I have never seen rain like this! It rained all day! And now it was like a monsoon.

The worms were the biggest I have ever seen too!

So glad to be home even though I'm freaking drenched.
