Singapore is so cool!

Because I was spontaneous and decided to stay an extra night and day in Hong Kong, I now had one day in Singapore. Not ideal but i made the choice so... At first i missed not having Darcy or a friend with me. I guess it's best I get back to being solo. So... Singapore! I loved Singapore to be honest!

In case you didn't know they have some of the most strict laws here to help keep Singapore nice and clean. You cannot spit! You also cannot chew gum. No eating or drinking on subways. It makes a huge difference because Singapore is such a nice place. Singapore also has a very nice river flowing through it.

I liked that there subway is outside. Here are a few shots of Singapore. FYI-Singapore is only 65 miles from the Equator so it is really hot, humid and green!

Looks like Utah!

Facial hair is getting longest I have ever had it.

I was pretty stressed because I had my pack but had no hostel or hotel to check into and to leave it. I am taking a sleeper train from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur tonight. I finally thought of a great idea. I could go to my hostel I cancelled and ask them to hold it for me. They said they were going to charge me for canceling only the night before so I figured I should get something for that payment. Wow it was hot out and a man can only carry a pack for an hour or so. My pack is about 30 pounds and small day backpack is about 3 pounds. Being stuck with these all day would literally be a nightmare and ruin my day.
Luckily my hostel was cool and said they would hold it and they didn't charge me for the night before cancellation. Bonus.

Pics from my day in Singapore.

This river is cool! Took the water taxi down to the marina area.

Look at this building! It's a canoe! On top there are trees and stuff.

The bottom of the canoe building is shops. Cool looking building inside too.

More about Singapore real quick. Singapore has a great feel to it. Even though I thought my day was going to be rushed it really didn't feel that way. The city is clean and fun. It is also the most diverse group of people I have seen. Even more than Hong Kong. There is a huge amount of Indian, Malaysian and Chinese people here. Plus Singaporians of course. And many people from Europe and America seem to be stationed here. For only having 8 hours I covered a ton of ground and the day seemed long. Here is the rest of what I saw.

Sunset time.

I took the subway to the harbor to check it out.

Dancers in the mall in the subway station.

My friend Jason from work who served his mission here told me to check out Sentosa Island and that it is pretty cool. Cool is an understatement. This place rocks. Easily the most family friendly place I have visited. I talked to my parents on Voxer a lot while here. My family would have a blast here. Beach, Universal Studios, warm weather, nice and clean. There is a huge casino and tons of stuff to do like an alpine slide, a water park and walking around seeing cool stuff.

This is the island. I walked over to it. Such a beautiful place and very nice night.

I really wanted to ride the Transformers ride here. Looked sweet!

The beach. It was nice sand!

After hours upon hours of walking I was beat. Sentosa is bigger than it looks. I took this ski lift up to catch the cable car back to Singapore Island. The alpine slide was below me the whole time. I had no energy though. I have to say I was so impressed and obsessive about how the ski lift grabbed the sleds and carried them back up. No human work necessary at all! After it drops them here it goes down a ramp to the start of the course. I think it is genius!

Cable car ride back. Expensive but cool! Talked to my dad the whole ride. Glad he is so great! My mom too! And my brother Gar. We all voxer almost daily. Helps me a ton.

Subway back to the river by my hostel. I loved this mom and son, same exact shirt.

The river is where I wanted to eat dinner and then grab my bag and head to the train station for my sleeper to Kuala Lumpur.

These crab come from Sri Lanka, I love crab and seafood so I spent a fortune on this Sri Lankan Crab. I hate the curry crap they cooked it in. Was way hot and pretty spicy. Didn't help it was way hot and humid outside. It was good though.

My view! I really like Singapore! Has a lot to offer.

I would love more time and to spend time here with a wife or my family. Easily the most family oriented place I've been. Kids were everywhere on Sentosa Island. As for me I had my magnum ice cream, can't stop buying those things! Like a crunch bar but better!

I took the subway and then a taxi to the train station. About an hour trip. What a long day. I amaze myself with my energy and the ground i can cover. Energizer Bunny is what my sister's fiancé Max calls me sometimes, out here I'm like the energizer bunny on steroids.

I still can't believe I schedule to take a Malaysian sleeper train to Kuala Lumpur. So dumb. Next blog update...
